Great Lakes
Maritime History Project
http://webcat.library.wisc.edu:3200/GreatLakes/
The story of shipping
on the Great Lakes is one of the more colorful and intriguing eras in
Wisconsin’s history. A consortium of libraries and universities
put together this online sampling of photographs and descriptions of
vessels dating back to the mid-1800s to serve as an introduction to
their maritime history collections. The site can be searched by broad
subject heading or keyword but also has an advanced search capability.
